Stableford

Stableford turns each hole into points, so one bad hole does not ruin the whole day.

In plain English

Instead of adding all your shots, each hole gives you points. A Net par is usually 2 points. Better than Net par earns more. Worse earns less.

How to win

Finish with the highest points total.

Example

Net par = 2 points
Hand-drawn equation showing Net par equals 2 points.

Remember this

  • Net par is the normal target.
  • If you cannot score points on a hole, you can usually pick up.
  • Bad holes hurt less than they do in strokeplay.

Things to be aware of

Point values and handicap strokes should be set by the competition rules. Individual Stableford commonly uses a 95% playing handicap allowance.
